The New Driver Education Law & How It Will Effect You and Your Teen Driver
One question that comes up often in our discussion with parents deciding where to send their children to driver education is "How does this new law that was recently passed effect my kid?"
Well, simply put if your child receives their learner's permit on or
after Sept, 1, 2007 they will be required to complete the new driver
education curriculum.
The new curriculum consists of all of the following components:
Student Requirements:
30 Hours Classroom
Instruction
12 Hours in vehicle
driver training with the driving instructor
6 Hours observing another
student driving with the driving school.
Parental
Requirements:
2 Hour In
Class Instruction on the requirements of the new law and a review of the
curriculum that your son or daughter is being taught at driver education
(This requirement is only required once every 5 years).
The Price of the new class with the new requirements varies from location
to location and
is determined by individual office operating expenses. The only additional fees required would be for the ordering of the
driver education certificate $20.00 and the per lesson gas surcharge as
outlined on our home page.
The school also offers an optional service of bringing the student to the
RMV for their road test. This fee should be discussed with the particular
school office as it varies from location to location.
